Ed Roy - Director Ed’s various activities as a theatre practitioner include directing, writing, dramaturgy, acting, teaching, and producing. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and nominations for his theatrical adventures including: The Pauline McGibbon Award for Directing; Agokwe, Dora Nomination Outstanding Direction; Secret Life, Chalmers Play Writing Award, Dora Nominations, Outstanding Direction, Production, New Play; The Other Side Of The Closet, Dora Award Outstanding Production, Chalmers Award Nomination: Canadian National Tour/United States Tour; Bang! Boy Bang, Dora Nomination: Outstanding Production: Canadian National Tour, England, Whales, Showcase Paris France; White Trash Blue Eyes, Dora Award: Outstanding Production, Chalmers Award Nomination; The Orphan Muses, Dora Nominations: Outstanding Direction, Production; Seeds, Dora Nomination Outstanding New Play; Luli the Ice Burge, Sterling Award Nomination: Outstanding Production/Japan/Canada Co-production: National Tours: Japan and Canada. As an actor, Ed was also nominated for a Dora for his performance in Video Cabarets' The Life and Times of Mackenzie King, and is the proud recipient of a Harold Alternative Theatre Award. His current theatrical endeavors include: his on-going role as Artistic Director of Topological Theatre; Company Dramaturge/Associate artist at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre; Instructor of the Graduate’s directing course at Guelph University; Playwright in Residence at LKTYP; Co-Chair Toronto Arts Council Theatre Committee. Ed is also developing a new play entitled, Whispers, at Canadian Stage. |
